I recently rented a car at thrifty Rent-A-Car on N. Kirkwood Rd. and my experience was horrible, I rented the car on September 29 through October 2, so on October 2 I called and spoke to Christopher Ma. And told him I would be returning the car on October 3 because I was sick and wasn't able to bring it in on the 2nd ,now knowing that I would have to pay for a additional day and that I already had a $445 deposit on hold I told him I would settle up with him when I brought the car in on the third, so on my way headed to thrifty around 12:15 PM because Christopher had told me that the car had to be in by 1:08 PM in order not to be charge for a additional day, so I had stopped at my sisters house who lives in the inner city to pick up some additional money just in case I needed it and when I came back out to the car it wouldn't start. So I called Thrifty Rent-A-Car because I thought something was wrong with the car because it would not start and Christopher told me that he had put a engine kill on the car and that the tow truck was less than a block away from me and instructed me to leave the keys in the car and that the car would be towed back to thrifty Rent-A-Car. So I put the keys in the glove box of the car and went back into the house to wait on a tow truck. Shortly afterwards The tow truck did arrive in which it pulled a couple of car spaces in front of the Rent-A-Car, and minutes later A black female came out on her apartment next-door on her cell phone and waved for her ride to pull in front of the Rent-A-Car, which was then parked between the rent a car and the tow truck, minutes later another car came and parked behind the Rent-A-Car. Then I saw the tow truck driver who was Caucasian get out of his tow truck and pull the Rent-A-Car up in front of the car that had parked and loaded the car and drove away. I waited a while and I called thrifty car rental to see what my total balance was now because I know I had to pay for the car being towed and Christopher answered the phone and the first thing that came out of his mouth was why did you have those people come and block in the Rent-A-Car to try to keep the tow truck from getting it, I responded to him what are you talking about, and he stated yelling you know what I'm talking about, you call those people to block the car in so the tow truck couldn't get it. I was just out done to be accused of something that I hadn't done, but Christopher continue to yell that it was no circumstances that that happened that I had planned that , and before I could get out the question of why would I do that even after leaving the keys in the car as instructed he hung up on me. And when I called him back to see what my total balance was he threatened to call the police on me saying that I was harassing him. Now I am a professional nurse but also a black female and he over acted because the car was picked up in a predominantly black inner city area, now I did call the Thrifty Rent-A-Car corporate office the same day this incident happened and filed a complaint against Christopher Ma for talking to me the way he did and today I received an email from them saying maybe I need to call The location that I got the rental car from and speak to the representative there which is Christopher concerning my complaints. Really ! Call the gentleman that disrespected me and called me a liar and try to work out my complaints. Thrifty Rent-A-Car who does that. I see now there is no justice for people of color at this location or from corporate so I advise you to take your business elsewhere.
The front desk person (sandy blonde guy with glasses, 5" 8') was a total jerk. The worst customer service I've experienced in a very very long time. Threaten to charge me if I don't clean the rental car and then stated that he wasn't my "maid" and then went and after I left charged a bogus $43 on my credit card of which I will do a charge back. And then he threaten to call police after I gave him a small lecture on how to talk to customers. This guy thinks we live in Nazi Germany. This guy has no concept of customer service. Very negative and rude individual with what seems to have issues with his personal life and takes it out on customers.
Poor Customer Service. They don't honor reservations. Jeremy had a very bad attitude & shouldn't be in a position working with the public. Chris appeared to be better at his job
This is a terrible business. The employees are lazy and disrespectful, clocking out early before closing time and refusing to rent us a car even though it was paid for and reserved for noon.
I received an email confirmation to pick up my rental van at 12 pm on Saturday, May 27. I arrive to the location at 12 on Saturday as the gentleman is closing the store. I knocked on the door and he brought all his belongings with him. I let him know I had a reservation that I needed to pick up at noon and he said he had already clocked out. I showed him my confirmation and that I needed the car to leave town, he told me he didn't care and proceeded to try to walk past me. I let him know it was imperative that I get the car and he just repeated that in order to do the rental he needed to sign back in. Which he couldn't do. I have never felt so disrespected or had such terrible customer service. He used a disrespectful tone when speaking to me and in no way did he treat me as a valued customer paying for services from his agency.
