Food excellent. Wait time without reservations on a Saturday night averages 15-20 minutes around 7pm.
Seemed shorthanded when we visited. Have been multiple times and will return.
Always good food then I go there. Service can be slow at times. Makes it difficult for a quick lunch during work.
Let me start by saying the food was delicious and the drinks were very tasty. The bartender Jen was very personable and nice. The hosts didn't seem to know what they were doing, or didn't really care. They greeted us very awkwardly and said our wait would be about 20 minutes, so we went to the bar for a drink. About 5 minutes later we received a message saying our table was ready so I went to the host stand while my fiancée paid Jen at the bar. However when I got to the host stand no one acknowledged me initially and then I was informed our table wasn't really ready, so we just stood there a while until our table was ready. Our server was very nice but you could tell the poor kid was inexperienced. He had a large party and was sat with a 6 top and us at the same time. It took a good 10 minutes for him to greet us, however I don't necessarily blame him, like I said he was inexperienced and overwhelmed. It also seemed like there were many tables available to be sat but there just weren't enough servers to go around. Our food arrived in a timely manner and was delicious. I just think management needs to retrain their host staff.
I have been dining at the Fish for 10+ years and absolutely love this place! Sean H. makes the experience a blast and is by far once of the most skilled servers in STL. Definitely worth visiting this restaurant!!
The service was very poor! We told our waiter Carlton our concerns about our food being cold, and the rice being gummy, all he could say was sorry about that! He didn't have any courtesy! He didn't say, "can I get you anything else, is there anything else I can do to help?" I sent my rice back, he didn't want to take it off the bill, he said, "our rule is if you eat it we can't take it off." I stated to him in order for me to know it was disgusting I had to taste it! Then he stated, "let me go talk to my manager." She came out with a new receipt, asked "who had the rice??" Handed me a new receipt and said she took it off! Never once did she introduce herself or apologize! I will never go back!
