Who doesn't enjoy GREAT customer service????
I have shopped at the Tesson Ferry Cotton Hardware store for several years.
On a positive note, the higher prices that you will find in a neighborhood store are well worth it for the convenience it offers. They also run great sales. It is almost like going to a hardware flea market.
I have been impressed by the customer service at the cashier's checkout as well as the numerous sales associates. Today, the Manager went above and beyond matching a sales price in the "Westlake" ad though Cotton's was not coming out until next week.
This week I moved apartments. I needed, dresser knobs, and a plant hanger, curtain rods, and whatnot. I’ve been from big box stores, multiple True Values and Ace hardwares. I check out the Oops paint everywhere. I only want an accent wall in each room and don’t want to spend a bunch of money. I’m still unpacking and busy, so I plan on picking them up as I find them. Well, low and behold I found one here. Great deal and nice people. I got keys copied and stopped by a few more times. Until I stopped and checked the Oops paint again. I got scolded and told it wasn’t for sale! The clerk was very upset and said she had been yelled at by 4 customers already. I said I just bought some earlier that week. Apparently Mr. Cotton said that he was sending it to somewhere in Collinsville or Caseyville for some reason. And that it was not to be sold. The woman who originally sold it to me (a dark haired girl named Amber maybe) was genuine, kind, helpful and went around a looking up prices for items that did not ring up in the system. Well, that was the reason I came back 3 more times this week. Today is the reason I’m not going back there. Mr. Cotton you gained me as a customer with a cheap can of paint. You also lost me over it. I don’t know where your paint goes, but you are causing your employees to be at odds with each other of the simplest of matters. And, if you truly don’t want to sell it to customers. For freaks sake take it to the back of the store. Don’t leave it out where people know to look for it and have Kelly jump down their throat.

I enjoy shopping there and will continue to do so.
I wish this store the very best, in part because I live so close, but also because I believe that "Grandpa" Cotton will eventually find someone in the family who is capable of managing this store.
Good selection and service. They have everything you need for most small projects around the house.
so helpful gives great advice.
For a family that has been around for as long as the Cotton family, it seems as though they know nothing about running a small neighborhood business. This store has been open for roughly five years, and it is filthy. There are literally hundreds of spaces on the shelves that are marked for stock (product), and there is no stock to be found.
